Birth-Prek June

June
We have been learning all about Moses and his story in the month of June.  The first week we learned that the Israelites prayed to God and he answered their prayers by sending Baby Moses.  That week for a craft we colored a baby Moses.  The second week of June we learned more about Baby Moses's life and how he ended up living in the palace.  We colored a basket that week and put our baby Moses from the last week in it.  This was just like what Moses' mom had to do when he was a baby to save him. Last Sunday we learned that God told Moses his plan for his life by talking to him through a burning bush.  This upcoming Sunday we will be starting a new curriculum!

*I attached the take home sheets from the first and second week in June.  On Father's Day there was not a take home sheet passed out.

June 5th- Help!
Memory Verse: “I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.” – Psalm 116:1
Lesson:  Today we learned that after Joseph passed away a new Pharaoh came to rule in Egypt.  He was nervous about the power the Israelites had so he made them his slaves.  But they prayed to God and he sent a baby named Moses!
Craft: We are doing a two-part craft this week and next.  They will wait & bring home the completed craft next week!
Extend: God hears out prayers too!  Spend time this week talking about prayer with your child and praying with them.

June 12th- No Ordinary Baby

Memory Verse: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” - Ephesians 2:10

Lesson:  An Israelite woman in Egypt had a baby boy but was forced to put him in a basket and give him up.  The baby’s name was Moses and thankfully God had a plan for him! The pharaoh’s daughter found the basket and Moses grew up in the palace.

Look Up!  Remind your child that even if they feel ordinary sometimes, God made them to do big things in His kingdom.  God’s love and power make them special.

May Week 4 (B-Pre-K)

This past Sunday we talked about the promises that God makes us.  God made Joseph many promises during his story that he always kept.  We talked about how we can turn to our bible and read scriptures to learn all of the promises God has made for us.  For our craft today we made bookmarks and encouraged the kids to go home and read their Bible if they have one.

Children's Bible Recommendations
- At church we read stories from The Beginner's Bible.  These are great for younger kids.  Really short, simple stories with good pictures.  It says ages 4-8 but I would say even younger kids can understand the stories and 7/8 year old may need something more advanced.

The Jesus Storybook Bible would be my second recommendation.  The stories are longer, with more details, and geared towards a little older audience.  I would recommend this for Pre-school age children and older.

This Week's Take Home Sheet
May 22nd– God’s Promises

Memory Verse: “I will never leave you; never will I forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5

Lesson:  Today we talked about how God makes us many promises.  We learn these promises from the Bible, God’s word.  For our craft today we made bookmarks.  We encouraged the kids to go home and read their Bibles (or ask their parents to read to them) and use their bookmark.

Parents:  We have started a Wellspring Children’s Ministry Blog!  Becca and myself will be using it to update parents on upcoming events, policies and procedures, and other good resources for parents.

Welcome! Birth-Pre-K

Hello Parents and Volunteers!
Thanks for stopping by to see our blog.  My goal is to post at least once a week so stop back by periodically.  We will use this site to keep parents informed on upcoming events, Rooted policies and procedures, and other logistics.  We also want to use this site to help equip parents to be able to better disciple their children at home.  We will give book and website reviews, provide parent resources, and give examples of how to make your home centered around Christ.  If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 816-7522-1855. (Marissa Purvis)

Upcoming Events:
Mommy & Me Play Group - (Birth-Pre-K) Join other moms for a time together to let the kids play and for moms to connect this Summer.  We will hang out twice a month on Friday mornings.  The first hang out will be Friday, May 27th at 10AM at the new YMCA park. (weather permitting) If you are interested in coming and/or being updated on future hang outs, please let Marissa Purvis know! (816-752-1855)

I will also post the "Take home sheet" from each week that we have sent home at church.  The idea behind these sheets is to help parents stay informed about what their child is learning each week and other some extension ideas of how parents can reinforce that week's lesson at home.  Here is the Take Home Sheet for May, Week 3.

May 1st– What’s His Name?

Memory Verse: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.” – Genesis 28:15

Lesson:  Today in our story about Joseph, we learned that he was thrown in jail for something he didn’t do.  This was all part of God’s plan and Joseph met people in jail that would later be part of his story.  Even though everyone else had forgotten about Joseph, God did not forget him and he was with him.

Prayer- Pray this prayer with your child this week and remind them that God is always with them so they don’t need to worry.   Dear God- Thank you for never forgetting about me.  Help me to trust you when I feel left out, alone, or scared
